Electric guitar recording, ink on sheet music/ 21 x 29.7 cm (3 pieces), 1 min., 6 sec./ 2025
我使用電吉他,模仿了一首十九世紀宗教訓誡詩〈I’m not too young for GOD to see〉的語調與節奏。
這首詩選自英國的經典語音教材《Peter Piper’s Practical Principles of Plain and Perfect Pronunciation》,這類書籍曾隨大英帝國的殖民擴張傳入印度、非洲與加勒比海原書以繞口令訓練孩童的發音。我將這種對舌頭的機械式操練,轉譯為五線譜上的旋律,並配以插圖。
透過電吉他的滑音與頓挫,原本神聖的宗教訓誡被轉化為一種荒謬的聲響。
I use an electric guitar to mimic the tone and rhythm of a 19th-century religious poem, "I’m not too young for GOD to see".
The poem comes from the classic British phonics book, Peter Piper’s Practical Principles of Plain and Perfect Pronunciation. These books spread with the British Empire into India, Africa and the Caribbean. The original text used tongue twisters, to train children's pronunciation.
I translate this mechanical training of the tongue, into a melody on sheet music and add illustrations. Through the guitar's slides and stops, the sacred religious warning transforms into an absurd noise.
